Displaced Colors

Displaced Colors

Working with paint color palettes typically used for middle- and upper-middle-class homes, and derived from the visual identity of everyday consumer beverages, I transform the support into landscapes of stilt villages and artisanal fishing communities on Colombia’s coasts. By displacing the colors of advertising, these works expose how consumer culture outlives the product itself, lingering in the waste that pollutes coastal ecosystems and in the social inequalities that complicate its responsible management.
